Business Affairs Coordinator

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive Business Affairs Coordinator to join a dynamic and growing television production company as part of our corporate team. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, has strong problem-solving skills, is able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys supporting the creative process through diligent administrative work.
As the Business Affairs Coordinator, you’ll support legal and business operations across multiple productions at all stages, acting as a collaborative partner to both internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with the Director of Business Affairs to coordinate key aspects of contract administration, rights tracking, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Issue, process and administer standard contracts and production-related agreements
- Coordinate with internal departments and production teams to ensure all contractual and legal requirements and deliverables are met on schedule.
- Track key deal terms, options, expirations, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Help create, maintain and manage rights tracking, chain of title, and clearance documentation.
- Support funding applications and reporting process, including managing deliverables and preparing documentation (e.g. CMF, RSF, tax credits).
- Keep up to date on new developments that impact funding, regulation and compliance.
- Provide overall administrative and organizational support to the Director of Business Affairs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or film & television related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within the independent film/television production, entertainment, or business/legal affairs industry.
- Understanding of CMF and independent production funds, tax credits and related CRA regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office programs.
- Familiarity with entertainment industry standards, union/guild agreements, content clearance, copyright, and rights management is a strong asset
- Demonstrated financial acumen considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with broadcaster and streamer compliance requirements is an asset
