Line Producer (in-house)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organized Line Producer to join a dynamic and growing television production company as part of our in-house team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, has strong operational and financial acumen, and enjoys supporting the creative process through meticulous planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
Reporting to the Director of Physical Production, you will support and oversee production operations across all unscripted projects, collaborating closely with the Director, creative teams, and business affairs to ensure productions are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with funding and broadcaster requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining consistent production practices, guiding teams through budgeting and scheduling processes, and fostering efficient communication across departments, crew, and key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Create budgets for new and developing productions.
- Support all productions across the company, providing consistent leadership in budgeting, scheduling, and production execution from prep through delivery.
- Partner with the Director to maintain oversight of budget management, cost reporting, and payroll across all productions, ensuring fiscal accuracy and accountability.
- Develop, monitor, and track production budgets and schedules; forecast variances and propose proactive solutions to ensure productions are delivered on time and on budget.
- Collaborate with Executive Producers, Series Producers, and the Director to align production decisions with overall financial, tax incentive, and operational objectives.
- Work with the finance and business affairs teams to ensure compliance with all funding, tax credit, and broadcaster requirements, and assist with deliverables and reporting as needed.
- Support hiring and onboarding of production staff and crew across projects, ensuring consistent application of rate cards, negotiated terms, and company pay practices.
- Oversee and guide Production Managers and Coordinators on company systems, templates, and protocols to maintain operational consistency and efficiency.
- Coordinate vendor and crew negotiations within approved parameters and ensure all contracts and documentation are properly executed and filed.
- Manage logistics including travel, locations, insurance, equipment rentals, and related production operations, ensuring alignment with company protocols.
- Maintain transparent communication with the Director, Executive Producers, and key department heads on production status, risks, and resource needs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide production systems, tools, and workflows that enhance efficiency across multiple shows.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment consistent with company policies and industry standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility and sound judgment in adapting to the fast-paced and unpredictable nature of unscripted production environments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Line Producer or Senior Production Manager in unscripted/factual television.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian production budgeting, cost reporting, and scheduling.
- Knowledge of Canadian production financing structures and experience working within provincial and federal incentive programs is preferred.
- Proven experience with funding applications and reporting (ex: CMF, provincial tax credits, etc.).
- Strong understanding of broadcaster and streamer deliverable requirements and compliance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent productions under tight timelines.
- Advanced proficiency in production management and budgeting software.
- Solid understanding of union/guild agreements (ex: ACTRA, IATSE) and employment standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Post-secondary education in film, television production, or a related field preferred.
